Placement Requests - (PA) - Rotations - Shared Rotation Groups

Placing Agency Related Guide (PARG)

Summary:

This new feature in the Groups Worksheet replaces the use of "SharedAlt" groups that allowed two or more groups to share a rotation or set of rotations. When schools create a Rotation group and link it to the Groups that will share it, the results display as follows:

Instructions for Placing Agencies:

1. In the Groups Worksheet, create the two or more groups that will share the Rotation set.

2. Create the Rotation Group that the student groups will share

(entering a group size sufficient for all planned rotations, in this case size = 2 for two single student observations).

3. Send the groups to the Outbox, and Edit the Rotation Group

If needed, edit the Destination size and use the Split Destinations tool split.pngto add additional Destinations. For example, to create 2 single-student rotations in 2 clinics:

4. Link Groups in Outbox

a. Select the student groups, and the Rotation group, then select "Mark Requests for Linking" from the Action dropdown.

b. Review the groups in the Linking Tray, and click the Link Requests button.

c. When the screen refreshes, you will see the following successful result:

Other things to keep in mind when using Rotation Groups:

  • Students are not assigned to Rotation Groups; students are assigned only to their "home" group (in the above example, to Groups A or B).
  • Because students are not assigned to Rotation Groups, the Assignment dropdown in the GWS-Assignment screen does not include any of the Rotation Groups you created.
  • In your Welcome Screen, only "home" groups will appear in the reminder for "XX Upcoming Placements with No Students Assigned."
