Relationship Between PHSA and HSPnet

PHSA (Provincial Health Services Authority) is a health service provider in the province of BC that has a province-wide mandate to deliver specialized health services in BC.

HSPnet was launched by the British Columbia Academic Health Council (BCAHC) in 2003 to manage and coordinate practice education placements for health sciences students attending post-secondary institutions in BC. Between 2005 and 2013, several other provinces joined HSPnet.

In 2013, BCAHC was dissolved. HSPnet was acquired by PHSA, and on January 2, 2014, PHSA began operating HSPnet. PHSA continues to manage and operate HSPnet as part of its Provincial Clinical Policy, Planning and Partnerships portfolio.
