Receiving Coordinator - Discipline Contact Set up
Receiving Agency Related Guide (RARG)
Summary:
A discipline contact is a way of having more than one destination coordinator for the same service, specific to a single sub-discipline of students.
For example, a Laboratory Destination has the service Laboratory that is used to place more than one sub-discipline (Medical Laboratory Assistants and Medical Laboratory Technologist). A discipline contact for Medical Lab Assistant students can be set up to replace the identified Destination Coordinator who coordinates only the Medical Lab Technologist students, so that the discipline contact can coordinate the Medical Laboratory Assistant students. You would NOT need to do this for students that could use other services. For example, the MLA and MLT are both placed via the service of Laboratory, but an MOA (Medical Office Assistant) would be placed via the service of Administration - so add the services of Laboratory and Administration to the Laboratory Destination. On the Destination Maintenance screen, assign a unique destination contact for the service of Administration; on Destination Maintenance assign a unique contact to the Service of Laboratory. That Coordinator should only have access to the sub-discipline of MLT (Technologists). On the destination profile screen, under the Other Contacts section, set up a Discipline contact for the sub-discipline of MLA. (Assistants).

Services such as Laboratory and Pharmacy are often used to place more than one type of student:
Nursing students may also share services. For instance RN programs and Practical Nurse programs may all use services such as Medicine, Surgery, Clinics, Emergency, and Surgical Services. At a single destination with a single service you can set up an RN programs contact and PN programs contact. |
Before you add a discipline contact, please review the discipline access rights of the individual coordinators in maintenance/staff/users:
