This bulletin highlights important information about an enhancement for PC and RC Users. HSPnet/COVID-19 Updates are distributed to Placing and Receiving Coordinators, and the National Alliance. Please share this information with Instructors and Destination Coordinators, as appropriate. Information bulletins are posted and archived in the Knowledge Base COVID-19 Toolkit and are available to all Users of HSPnet. Rescheduling Postponed Placements
NEW Release Date: end-of-day Monday, May 11th
The expected release date has been updated to ensure adequate time for testing prior to release. The enhancement release is scheduled for end-of-day Monday, May 11th.
Webinar Training Tuesday, May 12th
Training on the enhancement will be offered jointly for PC and RC Users. The training will include a demo of the new enhancement, followed by a Q&A session. Registration for the webinar can be found on your provincial login page.
Enhancement FAQ
Q. If a date is changed/postponed within a term due to some other reason that's not COVID-19 related and the PC and Unit have already pre-discussed, do I still need to go through this process or can I just change the dates?
A. If the postponement is not COVID-19 related, the date changes have been discussed and agreed upon with the Unit, and will proceed on the exact dates indicated on your Placement Request(s) then you can change the dates of your placement as usual.
Q. Is it easier to cancel a Placement Request and submit another Placement Request with new dates?
A. The workload would be the same for RCs and likely greater for PCs because this enhancement provides tools to streamline the process for PCs. Placements partially completed/suspended/postponed due to COVID-19 will be noted as such to RCs when the PR is resubmitted using the enhancement tools. Also, data about the impact of the pandemic may not be as easily tracked otherwise.
Q. Often times, I need to change the start/end dates of a Placement Request by a few days to accommodate a Unit or Preceptor. Does this new enhancement mean that when I do this, the placement is no longer Accepted and it has to be re-accepted? 
A. No, you can still go in and change the Start Date by a few days just as you always have. The 'reset or reactivation' of the Placement Request Status will only occur if you select the Postpone action.
